About Me

My photo
Hello, Welcome to my blog! My style of photography is basically 'see something interesting and snap it'. I enjoy looking for things that nobody would have seen if it wasn't for my photo rather than taking photos of something everyone can recognise and has seen before.

Power point presentation 2 - book

This power point is about one of Erwin Wurm's book.

The title of his book is significant in the way that it suggests what his art is about. ''The artist who swallowed the world'' suggests his work revolves around real life. He looks at the world and gathers information on different aspects of life then turns this into a funny and thought provoking art form.
When I first saw the book I immediately liked it because of the bright colour and cushiony feel to the cover. The book looked fun and comfortable which was a large contrast to the dull coloured books which surrounded it.
Throughout the book there were little drawings and bits of hand writing which came from the artists personal notebook. These scribbles were instructions which he left for people to follow and complete the tasks which he had set them to do. The drawings gave the book a personal touch, it gave a connection between me and the artist.

Wurm believes that there are no rules to say what art is and what art isn't, this is reflected in the work that he produces which questions what catagories of art his work actually fits into if any? He likes how art gives us the ability to create new realities or parallel realities, this is also reflected in his work as it stretches the immagination and limits of everyday life, making it into something we recognise but in a different way to what we're used to.
